POINTS ON SENDAI WCDRR PUBLIC FORUM FOR INCLUSION IN PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
December 9, 2014
(646) 378- 7923,
New York, York - DRI International has been selected to participate in the Public Forum of the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan, 14-18 March 2015.
Alan Berman, President and CEO, and Chloe Demrovsky, Executive Director, for DRI International will join representatives of DRI Japan in presenting a session titled “Implementing resilience with private-sector partnerships through business continuity”, at the Sendai Civic Auditorium Meeting Room 2 on Saturday, 14 March 2015, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. The exclusive event, limited to an audience of 50 participants, will include translation from English to Japanese and vice versa.
DRI International representatives will address what can be done to protect communities against the immediate threats of increasing high-impact weather events and related problems. < Quotation from DRI Representative? > these threats are forecasted to grow more extreme over the next century. Communities need to be redesigned to be flexible enough to withstand unforeseen events of all kinds. The private sector can play a critical role in implementing resilience strategies that will protect and improve systems in times of duress. In order for the implementation of the post-2015 sustainable development agenda to be successful, private sector actors must engage in the process from the earliest stages. The session will focus on maintaining the long-term health of the small and medium-sized enterprises that are integral to the Japanese economy. DRI International will release a white paper on best practices in the design of public-private partnerships for resilience following the event. The document will synthesize the viewpoints of the panel of experts from Japan and the United States. DRI International and DRI Japan will also have an exhibition booth at the Sendai Mediatheque.
